Something curious is

stirring in Culpeper...

This Hallowe'en season, Mr. Steplively invites you to imagine an evening where beloved literary characters step from the pages of their books and onto the dance floor. Heroes and villains, dreamers and adventurers, governesses and ghosts may all find themselves in attendance for a gathering of music, merriment, and mystery.

For now, the details remain shrouded in autumn fog, but readers, dancers, and lovers of costume would be wise to keep watch.

Further particulars are expected by the end of July. Check back often for clues...

A Farewell to the 250th

As our nation's Semiquincentennial year draws toward its close, plans are quietly unfolding for a special winter assembly in Orange County.

Before the final chapter of the 250th anniversary is written, we hope to gather friends old and new for an evening of dancing, celebration, and reflection in a setting worthy of the occasion. Beyond that, Mr. Steplively is keeping his secrets close.

The full announcement is expected by the end of July. Until then, check back often as hints and details begin to emerge.

Some farewells deserve a grand occasion.

Welcome, friends and neighbours!

Mr. Charles Steplively, Dancemaster, bids you most warmly welcome to an evening of English Country Dance.

Whether you are a practised dancer, a lover of history, a literary romantic, or simply someone willing to step lively and laugh often, you are in excellent company. No partner is required, no experience is expected, and every dance will be taught with good humour and clear instruction.

Come as you are, bring your curiosity, and prepare to discover why this joyful tradition has kept people turning, weaving, and smiling for centuries.

Take your place in the set — the music is about to begin.
